Website Status
Posted On 07-26-2005, 6:43 PM
The foundation of the the Wilke Update website is nearly finished (I still have to actually buy the applications; I'm using trial versions right now. Once that's done I can add more pictures to the photo gallery).
It took a little while to figure out how to integrate the Web Blogger and Photo Gallery applications with the website design I made. After I did, I spent a couple of days tweaking and retweaking the look and feel of the site. This is my first attempt at working with any kind of scripting. I barely know what I am doing; just enough to get me in trouble! The applications are solid and all I am doing is plugging them into my design; I just like to manulate the design of the applications so that there's a smooth transition between my interface and them.
One of the reasons I want to try out the blogging and photo applications is because I will be using the eCommerce application on my company website: www.lulubloom.com. I needed to learn how to do the basics of integrating these applications. Now that my feet are wet, I feel more comfortable creating an ecommerce website.
The main reason I wanted to create a family website is because both of our families live out of state. Once we have a baby, I figured a website would be a good way to keep them up to date with our goings on. I'll have to see if Jonathan's comfortable with that idea though.

What's in a Name?
Posted On 07-26-2005, 4:28 PM
I am only one day further along since I last posted (4 weeks, 2 days). Nothing new to report but as you can imagine I can't get being pregnant out of my mind.
Jonathan and I have already talked about names; as the months rolled by it became a topic of conversation. He even gave me a baby names book last month after he thought I was pregnant so that we could look at it together.
We have decided on a boy name: Coleman Michael (nickname "Cole"). The girl name is still up in the air. We have narrowed down our favorite girl names: Sabrina, Bella, Audrey. There are other girl names that we haven't marked off the list, yet: Mallory, Isabella (Bella), Elise, and Allison (Allie). I realize that we've got a little while before we need to make any kind of decision though. ;)

It's Official!

The nurse just called to tell me the results of my blood pregnancy test (Beta test) and we are definitely pregnant; 4 weeks, 1 day that is! I am ecstatic about the results.
- My hCG is 148.6. She said it needed to be at least 20.
- My progesterone is 98.4. I think she said it needed to be at least 25.
One week from today I'll go in for another Beta. In general, the hCG level will double every two to three days in early pregnancy. That means my hCG level next Monday should be at least above 800.
Two weeks from today they'll do an ultrasound to check for cardiac development. The nurse said they would continue to do Betas until cardiac development has been confirmed via ultrasound.

We did it!
Posted On 07-24-2005, 12:11 PM
Today we finally got the news we have been waiting to see for the last 12 months. There was a second line on the pregnancy test. I had seen so many negative pregnancy tests I fully expected to see the same thing this morning. When I saw the test result line I blinked and it felt like my heart stopped. I didn't know whether or not to believe what I was seeing.

I called and left a message to let the doctor's office know I'll be in for a blood pregnancy test tomorrow. I think I'll be released to an OB after 6 or 8 weeks.
I really can't believe I am actually pregnant. I didn't have any symptoms to make me think I was before I tested. While we were trying to get pregnant, I was never able to visualize being pregnant. Now I don't have to because I am! We are so happy.
