I don't think that anyone still checks this site, but in case they do, I've started posting elsewhere -- www.wilkefamily.com

It's been a long time
Posted On 02-04-2007, 1:52 PM
I've decided to blog again. Just for me, so I can get some thoughts out of my head. I don't expect anyone to read (very few people even have the URL), so again, it's just for me.

I know I haven't written anything in ages and a lot has happened since Mallory's birth. I'm not going to try and catch up on any of our happenings and just jump in from right now. So, here goes...

We are having a problem with the smoke detectors in our house. I think there are about 7. Since mid-January they have gone off 4 times in the middle of the night (They went off last night, that's why this is all on my mind right now). At first it was kinda scary, now it just pisses me/us off. The alarms are all interconnected, so they all blare (and of course wake M up b/c there's one in her room). The only good thing is that these detectors aren't hooked up to our alarm system, so at least the fire department doesn't show up (we have a couple OTHER smoke detectors in addition to these 7 that ARE hooked up to the alarm system... don't ask ). The batteries are all good (we tested). I looked up this problem online and it seems it could just be dust in the detectors. Seems odd since the house is only 2 years old. Our ceilings are really high and I can't reach them even on a ladder, so I'll have to wait until J comes home to clean them. I just hate that it's like the detectors are "crying wolf" and we don't think anything of the smoke alarm going off. We need to get them fixed asap in case there is a problem so we don't ignore the alarm. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Can you tell I had little adult contact in the last week?!?!?

We (M and I) are just hanging here tonight and will watch the Super Bowl, at least that's the plan. Hopefully the game and commercials will be good. J doesn't come home until Wed night (or Thu, can't remember). He'll have been gone for 11 days. I think that's the longest he's been away since we had M. There's a big difference between being gone just a work week compared to 11 days. It is wearing on me a bit, but we are hanging in there...

She's Here!

Miss Mallory Ann Wilke arrived on April 7, 2006 at 3:02 PM. She was 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long. She's the sweetest little girl and we are loving her more and more each day!

Six days and counting...
Posted On 03-27-2006, 2:08 PM

We are down to the last week; at least the last week before the due date. There's no telling when this little girl will make her appearance. My body isn't showing any signs, according to my doctor, of her arriving any time soon. I think she'll be about a week overdue. We are more than ready to meet her but of course will wait, not-so-patiently, until she's ready.

Here's my latest belly picture. I don't know if there's even a difference between today's picture and the one from two weeks ago. Will this be my last belly picture or will I be able to take one again in 2 weeks?? Time will tell!

Full Term & Big Belly
Posted On 03-13-2006, 10:21 AM

This week marks a big milestone: Baby Wilke is considered full term. She could come at any time and the doctors wouldn't try to stop or slow her down. My guess is that she'll wait as long as she can before she does decide to arrive. I am thinking her birthday will be about a week after her due date (April 2).

My belly keeps growing and growing. I don't know how it can get much bigger, but I know it will since I'm guessing we have a few more weeks. I can't tell if she has dropped any (maybe just a little as of this morning), but according to my last two appointments, she seems to be head down, so that is good. Here is a picture from today, plus one from 5 weeks ago. Just call me "torpedo belly."
